This movie stars Sidney Poiter as an engineer who couldn't find an engineering job, so he took a teaching job in the interim. As he gets to know the students, he learns as much from them as he teaches them. The students start out harrassing him at every turn, then he finds a way to get through to them. My favorite part of the movie is the way he starts with an academic focus then switches to real life skills the students will need when they leave school in a few months. In the end he does receive an offer for a terriffic engineering job.Movie Review: A timeless lesson

I have enjoyed this movie for some time. I saw it as a youth and have continued to enjoy it ever since. When I watch a movie I rate it according to the story first and the characters second. The story here of self respect is one that should be learned by all young people everywhere in the world. The message of 'if you don't respect yourself, no one else will' has been true since the beginning of time. Sidney Poitier's understated style and cool control under pressure approach to the rowdy and ill refined students is also a lesson for adults as well. To get angry is a crisis of emotion and indicates a loss of control and loss of self respect. So as adults we can try as we may to get this message across to young people but if we lose control of our own emotions, the entire message is lost.Movie Review: :0) i'm in love
