Movie Review: Entertaining Sequel Makes Sense If You Read King's Novel
Summary: 4 Stars

I watched this movie on video and was entertained. I did not feel that this was a a rip-off of the original movie at all. If DePalma's original film of Carrie included the crucial epilogue which implies that Carrie's father had other children with his new wife after running out on Mrs White, the second movie would have made more sense to audiences who did not read the book. It also makes it very clear that Carrie got her power from her dad. Although, in the original film, Carrie does say, "He left you, Mamma--everybody knows that." Neither film is scary but are good dramas about telekineses, what it means to be different, and bullies. What I didn't like: Amy Irving's presence was wasted. She's a wonderful actress but the character Sue Snell was just written all wrong and made thouroughly disposeable. She should have had a larger part. The use of flashbacks from the original film bothered me because of the difference of style and they just didn't seem to belong; the point should have been made some other way. I haven't seen the deleted scenes but I could believe that they probably should never have been deleted. I truly dislike having deleted scenes seperate from movies on DVD and I would rather have them edited back in. Good acting all around, good direction and production.

Movie Review: THIS CAN NEVER MEASURE UP TO THE ORIGINAL!!
Summary: 1 Stars

I keep asking myself why, oh why does Hollywood keep on making sequels that can never measure up to the original? The original "Carrie" had star power like "Sissy Spacek" to keep you riveted to your seat along with "Piper Laurie" to explore the depths of their characters. Ultimately, a good movie will explore adequate motivations for their characters and we get to know them...at least a little bit. The only character with any depth at all in this movie is the "hero" "Jessie", played by "Jason London". The rest of the characters serve as cameo artists to say the least because we know nothing about them. True, the main threat to Rachel (the protaganist) is Jason's girlfriend, Tracy, played by beautiful former Miss Teen USA, Charlotte Lopez (a.k.a Ayanna). But she is wasted in this flick...she is given little to do and doesn't even have a meaty scene with Rachel. She's just on the sidelines and never really a threat. The threats come with the "jocks" who are one dimensional and stupid. Amy Irving is completely wasted here, reprising her role as "Sue Snell" from the original "Carrie". She gets a grisly reward for her efforts. The climax, where Rachel is humiliated lacks the punch and power that the original gave us, simply because we do not sympathize with Rachel the way we did with Carrie. The screenplay is terrible. Watch the original but stay away from this "tripe". It was truly a wasted effort on everybody's part.

Movie Review: No match for the original but good on its own
Summary: 3 Stars

De Palma's Carrie is a classic. Sissy Spacek's and Piper Laurie's damnation-and-hellfire performances were truly terrifying and scared a hell out of me, and I, a thirteen-year-old junior high kid back then, had a hard time going to sleep at night with my light turned off for days after having seen the film. True, this remake is no match for the original. But it's got a few things going for it. For one thing Emily Bergl is a charming little girl and plays the role of ill-fated Rachael admirably. And there is Amy Irving. I have not seen her since Carrie and Fury, and it's nice to have her back on the screen. I only wish she had been given a more meaningful role in terms of her relationship with Rachael. Perhaps there is something a bit schmaltzy about the film - the ending in particular - and I've never thought that any of today's teenagers could be so naive as to jump off a school building because of a broken heart. But I am glad that I have seen this one, and all these flashbacks from Carrie do add some chilling effects to the proceedings.

Movie Review: Good Good Movie
Summary: 5 Stars

Okay. So what I'm hearing is that this movie was rubbish. Granted that there are a few spots of bad acting here and there but isn't that so in most movies? When I first watched this movie, I fell in love with it. The chemestry between the two main characters is amazing. It's belivable. Thats the way that you can imagine two high school kids being in love. Grantes Jason London was 27 when he made this movie, but still believable. The romance between Jesse and Rachel is so great and so sweet. When you watch this movie, you will see how genuine the actors make it seem. And come on, I really didn't think that the first Carrie was really that good, but of course it was made in the 70s so I wasn't really expecting that much from it. I think that this movie, however was and excellent sequal to it. I also really liked that Amy Irving came back in this one. It really tied a lot together for me. All in all, I think that this was an excellent movie and a must see so you can atleast judge for yourself.

Movie Review: Not as good as the original, but not a bad sequel.
Summary: 2 Stars

The movie "The Rage Carrie 2" is a fairly decent sequel to the first "Carrie", but is not as good as the original. Then again, when you analyze the two movies, neither is very good from a horror movie fan's perspective, but I must say that that movie is not too bad...it is fair to average. In other words, I give it slightly over 2 stars which is about the equivalent of a "C" grade.

Basically, the movie's plot involves a girl named Rachael who has similar if not identical powers to that of Carrie in the first flick. She also has that same "bad" temper...in many ways, this movie is very similar to the first. Like Carrie, Rachael is also estranged from the rest of her fellow students in highschool except for one girl who kills herself in a very realistic scene in the beginning of the movie. Hence, you have Rachael with special powers very much upset about her friend's death, and indeed, she blames "the cool crowd" for her death and rightly so to some extent as they are quite cruel as Chris was in the original "Carrie".

Again, like the original "Carrie", we have this same theme of the "bad" or "nasty" highschool students versus the good but weird or nerdy girl with the special powers. In many ways, the movie's plot is almost identical to the first with some variations, but the key difference is the acting and directing of the original "Carrie" which is clearly superior to that of the sequel.

However, I must say that some of the death scenes of "The Rage Carrie 2" are much superior to that of the first movie. All in all, this movie is worth a rent, but it does not have much to offer in the way of scares or actual horror...some great kill scenes, but overall, "The Rage: Carrie 2" is certainly nothing to write home about.
