VHS Movie Reviews of The Naked Gun - From the Files of Police Squad! [VHS]Movie Review: PARODY AT ITS BEST Summary: 5 StarsLeslie Nielsen was a wooden and dull leading man in films such as The Opposite Sex, Forbidden Planet(both 1956) and The Poseidon Adventure 1972.
But in the 80s he revealed a stunning comic touch and no better than as Frank Drebin in THE NAKED GUN. The film is based on the tv-series and he is backed by great support from Priscilla Presley, George Kennedy and Ricardo Montalban. The film NEVER overstays its welcome and is a repeated pleasure:-)
Movie Review: A Comedy Classic Summary: 5 StarsI love this movie. Just completely silly and hillarious. Leslie Nielson has the best deadpan delivery ever theres just so many great gut busting scenes, both subtle and completely over the top. The "niiiiiice beaver" scene is probably my favorite scene in a comedy movie all time. Just completely gratuitous and uncalled for but funny as hell.
Movie Review: Non-Stop Hilarity! Summary: 5 StarsMost likely his most famous film, Leslie Nielson stars in this over-the-top, spoof comedy entitled "Naked Gun".
The movie explores the life of a ridiculous police officer/detective named Frank Drebin as he takes us through some of the wildest comedy a film has ever produced. Encounters with a beautiful woman, baseball game antics, and hospital scenes make "Naked Gun" a must see for any comedy buff. Perhaps the humour is not as clever as one would hope, however the laughs are produced constantly, with a brilliant slapstick style of humour that ultimately makes Leslie Nielson a sensational comedic actor. Entertainment was able to see the beauty of this film, placing it on their Top 20 list of "Funniest Movies Ever". Nielson's best, one of the best, "Naked Gun" is sure to deliver great laughs. Highly recommended.
Movie Review: hilarious, for most of it anyway Summary: 4 Starsthe zuckers best career move was using leslie nielson in slap-stick comedies such as the airplanes and this series.this is a continuation of the hilarious, but unfortunately short-lived,tv show police squad.like airplane this is pur out slap-stick comedy, stupid yes but don't we all need some stupid comedy to make us ALL laugh.i would think it safe to say that if you don't find this funny than you don't have much of a sense of humor.so many scenes make me tear up with laughter, almost all due to the dead pan of nielson.it's great seeing oj tortured throughout, even having nielson sitting on his face.unfortunately as the movie nears it's end the laughs die down considerably, especially most of the whole baseball thing.but i have to give it the high rating that i have because as a comedy it does the job.when you're down and depressed and nothing's on the tv and you want alot of good laughs than pop this movie in every now and than and it should do the job.if this doesn't work, you need some serious help.
Movie Review: Absolutely Hilarious Summary: 5 StarsLeslie Nielsen takes the role of Lt. Frank Drebin (from the short lived tv series "Police Squad") to the big screen in this hilarious cop comedy from 1988 by the guys who did "Airplane".
Frank Drebin is a bumbling policeman assigned to investigate the attempted murder of his friend Nordberg (O.J. Simpson, one and the same). The investigation leads him to the home of Vincent Ludwig (Ricardo Montalban). A routine questioning leads to disaster, and Frank is left without any clues. There, however, he meets the beautiful Jane Spencer (Priscilla Presley), and is smitten. He also learns that the attempt on Nordberg's life was drug related. To make matters worse, Drebin learns of an assassination attempt on Queen Elizabeth. Drebin is kicked off the force just when they need him most. The rest of the movie is predictable, but is still very funny.
This is not a comedy for all people. If you're looking for intelligent, witty humor, look elsewhere. If you want two mindless hours of pure stupidity, than "The Naked Gun" is your tikcet.
