VHS Movie Reviews of The MonsterMovie Review: Our favorite comedy Summary: 5 StarsWe saw this film on a film series, and loved it so much we came home and ordered it. It is our favorite Benigni comedy ("Life is Beautiful" is in its own unique class) because not only is it relentlessly hilarious, it is somehow adorable and heartwarming as well.We have been sharing it with all of our friends, making it sort of our family film.
Movie Review: Hilarious! Summary: 5 StarsI agree, this is Benigni at his hilarious best, with a superb supporting cast led by Nicoletta Braschi!I also agree... WE NEED 'IL PICCOLO DIAVOLO' on video in North America!
Movie Review: NEVER SEEN ANYTHING FUNNIER!!!! Summary: 5 StarsNow THIS!!... is what you call a FUNNY MOVIE!!! You have to see it twice just to catch everything!!! Roberto, again, plays a mooching thief (same as the excellent Johnny Stecchino), and is mistaken for a serial killer. Scene after scene, his innocent mishaps suggest his perversion. There is so much fast paced humor, the "grocery store" scene, the dinner party, the chinese interview, the filmed stake-out, chain saw attack, cigarette in pants routine, the chase, the phone call using the TV remote, and more crazy scenes are all brilliant hilarious concepts. The supporting cast with the looney psychiatrist add to the whacky situations. Begnini is a genius at work, and the only comedian to come close to Roberto is the one and only "Barny Fife". It is absolutely the funniest movie I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot!! Begnini, give us more!!!
Movie Review: Benigni at his fall-down funny best! Summary: 5 StarsBenigni,a mild mannered school bus driver mistaken for a serial killer, encounters a series of near-disasterous confrontations with police, gangsters and lovely ladies while unknowingly avoiding death. For Benigni fans, a triumph. For all others, a laughfest from start to finish.
Movie Review: Wear Depends if you see this movie Summary: 5 StarsI just saw Il Mostro for the first time last night, and I still can't stop laughing. I guarantee that you will wet yourself if you see this film. Begnini is ingenious when it comes to physical comedy. The premise of the film has been done repeatedly by lesser moviemakers, usually with predictable and less-than-stellar results. Begnini takes the premise, twists it around, and shoots it at you so quickly that you'll have no idea what is going to happen. There are entire sequences that will have you scratching your head at their inclusion, but the payoff that comes later will have you in stitches. There is one extended bit that shows Loris (Begnini's character) walking around the city, committing minor crimes and getting into trouble. Unbenknownst to him, he is being filmed by the police; when the police screen the film, one of the funniest scenes in celluloid history results. While not in La Vita e Bella's league, the burgeoning genius of Roberto Begnini is already quite evident in this movie. I highly recommend it.
