Movie Review: Terrific forty-minute, total-body workout

For people who are short on time or who are not fond of floor exercises, I'd definitely recommend this. It is also good for any fitness group, because it is so easily modified up or down for your fitness level. It dates back to 1990. So I know there will be naysayers. But if it works once, it works always. The original Firms are timeless, IMHO.

It has an approximately six-minute warm-up, including a stretch. Then it's on to brief but challenging floor and step aerobic segments interspersed with weight work for both the upper and lower body. The step aerobics sets also utilize light dumbbells for upper body exercises, maximizing the time spent working out. The weight work alternates upper and lower body (example, a set of military presses followed by a set of lunges). That lasts twenty-five minutes or so. It moves VERY quickly because of the way it's designed- what we'd call circuit-training today. This really allows you to heavy up on the weights, because you get decent breaks between sets. Next, it's on to push-ups, six minutes of abs, then to a final stretch of four minutes. The is no pec work other than the push-ups, nor any tablework, bridgework or leg lifts in this workout. Please, AVOID THE DORKY DANCE AT THE END!

Two beautiful instructors lead you through this. Susan, in particular, shines with knowledge, grace and beauty. Her flawless form and physique are inspiring, to say the least.
