Movie Review: "Garbage Day!"
Summary: 5 Stars
More like garbage movie! I really don't think Silent Night Deadly Night 2 needs much of an introduction, it's reputation as one of the worst sequels/movies ever resounds prominently throughout the world of cinema. I'd say it even gives the infamous Troll II a run for its money.
Plotwise, there isn't much to say here. The focus shifts to Ricky, the younger brother of Billy from the first chapter, who is now institutionalized in the mental ward. The first third of the movie is comprised entirely of clips from the first movie as Ricky recalls them, (even though Ricky wasn't there to witness any of the things his brother did!). Ricky then describes how he became a murderer himself throughout his teen years, and finally the film winds down with him escaping the hospital and heading off to kill Mother Superior.
Silent Night Deadly Night 2 has all the calling cards of z-grade cinema, but the piece de resistance is the unparallelled performance of Eric Freeman as Ricky. Watching him pace around his cell taunting the doctor in a faux tough-guy voice is without a doubt one of the funniest things ever committed to film. Plus, who could forget classic lines like "Garbage Day", and "sounded like some squirrel getting his nuts squeezed".
Bottom line, see this movie. It's the funniest I've watched in years and it isn't even a comedy. Silent Night Deadly Night 2 deserves its very own DVD release, and I hope we see that day soon.
