Movie Review: No More Kings
Summary: 3 Stars
If you like poorly drawn cartoons with not-so-great singing about history, then you will love this one. No More Kings sums up the pilgrims landing on America, the taxation without representation, and the colonist's reaction to it. It doesn't mention many acts, but it gets the main point across. If you watch the video prior to reading about it in a text book, you would have a better understanding of what it's all about. This video should be viewed by little kids because it wouldn't give much information to an older viewer. I gave it a 3 because it left out more than half of the acts, most of which were major ones, and didn't go very in-depth with the ones it did mention. If I could improve this video, I would get better singers, add more detail, and include all the acts.Movie Review: Not the Best Way to Teach Children History

I don't think "No More Kings" was a very good cartoon. Even though it was directed toward little kids, it still should have contained more information. They skipped from the Pilgrims arriving in America to the colonists wanting to rebel. This means they left out very important events such as the French and Indian War. They also weren't very accurate when depicting the events. For Instance, when talking about the Boston Tea Party, they showed men pouring cups of tea off a dock. Actually, in the real Boston Tea Party people dressed as Indians and poured tea off a boat. They also should have included statistics such as 342 chests of tea were destroyed. Another thing they should have included were different acts passed by parliament. The Intolerable Acts were some of the final causes of the war. After these acts, the colonists first started training militias, which was a very important step in preparing for the war. Being more specific and doing other things listed above could improve this cartoon. The cartoon could easily be improved, but as it is now it is not a good teaching tool.Movie Review: Rock on America!

I understand they only have a limited amount of time, but if they depicted the events correctly they would have at least made the cartoon a little better.Movie Review: America does rock!

I watched these mini-lessons when I was a pajama-wearing kid enjoying cartoons on Saturday morning. My favorite videos are the ones on the American Revolution and the Constitution. The videos are unashamedly patriotic and teach children to take pride in their American heritage. I recommend this video to anyone who wants their children to learn about and value their American identity.
