VHS Movie Reviews of Robot CarnivalMovie Review: A Wonder Unknown Summary: 5 StarsI remember first seeing this on Sci-Fi back in 1993 as a kid when the channel did anime weekends. It was one of the first anime I had ever seen and to this day I still love it. The art and music play the emotions of the separate episodic like charactors, and display a wonderful visual wonderland for you to feast upon. I highly recommend everyone see this movie at your soonest ability.
Movie Review: Great To The End Summary: 5 StarsIf you can pay attention long enough, it'll leave you breathless, though the subtitles on the DVD seem to be a very literal translation of Japanese. The dubbed VHS is probably the way to go. P.S. - watch it until the tape cuts off or the DVD finally goes back to the menu; there's stuff after the credits!
Movie Review: Pray for the subbed DVD... Summary: 5 StarsOk, why in God's name hasn't this been released on DVD yet? (don't EVEN get me started on MEMORIES). Truly great stuff, including work by Katsuhiro Otomo and a terrific soundtrack to boot. Beautiful, timeless animation.
Movie Review: One of the Best Summary: 5 StarsI recently imported this movie on DVD and I recommend that anyone who wants this movie or who loves anime should do the same. Even though the subtitle translations weren't the best, it didn't matter since most of the shorts are silent. Robot Carnival is truly one of the first great anime movies and one of the greatest movies anywhere. It has something for everyone and for anyone who likes anime or manga this is a must-see!! It's a true classic.
Movie Review: Artistic and fun masterpiece Summary: 5 StarsThis is good for even people who do not watch animes.Robot Carnival is a collection of anime short all dealing with robots. Some story dealing with romance(not smut), some dealing with war, and some in emotion, but all of then are works of art. Some are musicals, some are comedies, some are emotional, some are just good. I saw Robot Carnival on HBO in english, not subtitle, and I say it is not the best anime, because there are better(Princess Mononoke for example) but this is the best anime that deal with emotion and art. This is kinda old so there is no computer generated effect, still this has some awesome animation. I plan on purchasing this for myself on DVD as soon as the english dubbed come out, I know it could exist because I recorded it on tape. Bottom line if you like art this is a must see.
