VHS Movie Reviews of Reanimator [VHS]

Movie Review: Excellent movie, but this release may not be necessary
Summary: 5 Stars

I compared the special features in this release with the one released by Elite (millennium edition). Most of them are the same. The only real notable difference is that this one has a new 70 minute documentary. I'm sure that's worth the effort of rebuying another 2-disc set. If you have the Elite version, you may want to pass on this.

Movie Review: overrated but fun...
Summary: 3 Stars

I could never see what all the fuss was about over Reanimator! it was good fun and gory as hell but does not deserve the status some people give it.

I have seen the Elite dvd of this and it was great! I'm gonna be buying this one as well as i'm big on gimics and like the look of it.

Its propably gonna look amazing and sound great too but to me the mid 80s was not the best of times for horror films and Reanimator was no exception.

Movie Review: Sit down evil dead & dead alive!
Summary: 5 Stars

Based on a story by H.P. Lovecraft, this campy send-up follows an egotistical medical student (Jeffrey Combs) who develops a serum that revives the dead. Together with his girlfriend and his obdurate roommate, Combs reanimates a corpse but doesn't factor in certain complications that arise. Filled with equal parts laughter and gore, Re-Animator spawned a similarly outlandish sequel.Classic gorefest. Classic. It never lets up. Just when you think you've seen it all, it tops you. Tongue-in-cheek all the way, as funny as it is ghastly.

Stuart Gordon has never made a film quite as outlandish and nerve-rattling as this one, although "From Beyond" was great, in a more cerebral vein. When I walked out of the theatre on first viewing "Re-Animator," I was literally vibrating, nerves frayed. Exhilirating, in a very twisted way. This is a how a real horror/comedic gory movie is suppost to be done.

Movie Review: Re-animate me
Summary: 4 Stars

I'm another one of those reviewers who saw this hilarious film in the 80s and fell in love with it. This DVD with it's many bonuses has a special place on my shelf. It never gets dusty there. I consider this a classic spoof that stands the test of time.

Movie Review: Jeffrey Combs for president!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Nice. I remember seeing this one back in the big 80s, and to me it was an instant classic. Jeffrey Combs is the perfect actor for Lovecraft movies, and that's probably why he's in most of them....and hopefully he will be in more in the future.

Okay, keep in mind, that this WAS made in the big 80s, so it won't have the latest special effects technology, but still kicks major butt in the gorefest area.

If you haven't seen it yet, and claim to be an HPL fan, shame on you. run right out, buy it and come right back home anbd watch it.

Well, go on. I'm waiting.

DO IT!
