This film has always haunted me. It's plot is simple, but the acting is serpurb and the man vs. man conflict helps us remember just what some people will do to keep two people apart merely for namesake or money. Beatrice Straight, Kathleen Quinlan, and Stephen Collins are all consummate actors. I had just purchased this video when I found out that Beatrice Straight had died. I saw this film with my mother when it premiered at Radio City Music Hall. It stuck with me for over twenty years. The story may be predictable, but, it is a classic tale of love, power and manipulation This is a great movie for a cold or rainy afternoon, curled up on the couch. Grab a box of tissues and prepare to get teary. The theme song will haunt you for days. Buy it and enjoy.
