VHS Movie Reviews of Pocahontas II: Journey to a New WorldMovie Review: Shattered dreams Summary: 1 StarsThis ruined everything about the first film for me. For one, they turned John Smith into a total airhead. I mean, what happened to the brave explorer?? I wouldn't have minded about John Rolfe { In turth, she does marry him.]if he was not such a boring...sorry, I can't swear on this site. Pochontas had a total character change and she had NO IDEA what she was talking about. The histoical methods really needed to be rethought. It lacked PASSOIN and ADVENTURE and was one of the worst films I have ever seen. Pochontas lacked her free spirit and John Smith his noble heart. Trust me, I am only 13 and I saw this a few years ago and it shattered my dream and my heroine. I cried at the end, for petes sake. So, if you don't want shattered dreams, DON'T WATCH THIS FILM.
Movie Review: THE REAL ONE Summary: 5 StarsNow I haven't watched this movie yet, but I've heard that is extremely far from the true happenings. In the true story, settlers come to Virginia, (in honor of the legendary "Virginia Company") to grow tobacco and become rich. Then wars began to happen. John Rolfe than married Pocahontas hoping it would bring an everlasting peace to the colony. It brang only a little peace. Pocahontas travels to England w/ her husband. Sadly, Pocahontas dies 3 years after her marriage due to the terrible European disease, smallpox. In this story, Pochaontas just goes to England and THEN falls for Rolfe. I'm planning on renting this, and I think it will be very good [,especially since a Native American savage gets to see the settled and civilized way of life!]
Movie Review: A *little* more historically accurate... Summary: 3 StarsI live in Central Virginia, not far from where the real story took place. Does anyone realize who Pocahontas *really* ended up with... hint: NOT John Smith.
This movie is well done and my 3-year-old daughter likes both the original and the follow-up immensely! I can't wait until she's old enough to study the true stories. We will certainly have a great time when we compare and contrast the original happenings with the Disney versions.
Movie Review: Not so bad but not so good either Summary: 2 Stars Basically the movie wasn't so good as I espected it to be .I mean the first movie was way much better I could say the Pocahontas 2 discussed me .The hole thing of the movie was that she stays with John Smith and finally she ends up running with another guy that was much more uglier than John Smith .
The cartoon is pretty well realizes the characters looked somehow the same as the ones in the first movie but the context is very poor .So if you really want to enjoy you're Fridays don't choose Pocahontas 2 because it will leave you with a sour taste in you're mouth .
Movie Review: I would give it 0 stars were it possible Summary: 1 StarsThis sequel completely pisses all over the memory of its brilliant predecessor. I bought the VHS edition when it first came out several years ago and there I was, a bright-eyed kid, ready to be WOWed by more of my favorite heroine and what I got was... essentially, crud.
Now, it wasn't the entire John Rolfe thing that bugged me. I'll admit that I didn't like him, but it wasn't because I'm such a huge John Smith/Pocahontas fan; it was because he was such a boring, humdrum character. The entire story was rushed and just felt so very unncessary. It lacked the dynamic, mood, charm, and heart of the first "Pocahontas." Coincidentally (although not surprisingly), it also lacked the good music.
The real kicker is, I can hardly remember anything concrete about this movie. I remember having seen it a few times and having absolutely hated it, but it's surprisingly forgettable. The only thing is that I can't forget that I actually watched it and that it nearly burned out my retinas and destroyed a few of my brain cells in the process. I oh-so-honestly wish that I could un-watch this heinous direct-to-video sequel (or that Disney would disown it and say they weren't at all thinking straight when they decided to create it), because it was so bad that it nearly ruins the original movie for me.
