VHS Movie Reviews of PersuasionMovie Review: horrible Summary: 1 Starsthis is the second worst movie that I have ever watched. I never saw anything as boring as this is. What a waste of money
Movie Review: Good Version Summary: 5 StarsI like this version of Persuasion better than the recent Masterpiece Classic one. It tells the story in a much slower fashion and allows us to get to know the characters better. It has a wonderful romance and suspense appeal. My only complaint was with leaving out the important factors of Mrs. Smith's life with regards to her association with Mr. Elliot and how Captain Wentworth ended up saving her land and livelihood in the end. That was important to the novel and they left it out entirely; however, it is still a wonderful story as told in this version. I think Amanda Root portrayed Ms. Elliot even shyer and less assertive than the book character, but it was a very good portrayal even with this difference.
Movie Review: Great Jane Austin story Summary: 5 StarsI was so glad to see this on DVD, because I have worn out my VHS copy.
This is a chick flick, and one of the best adaptations of Jane Austin's novel.
Enjoy!
Movie Review: One of Austen's best Summary: 5 StarsPersuasion is my second favorite Austen book and movie. The story is wonderful, and this production is subtle and perfectly paced - just like the book. The choice of actors is perfect - just as I imagined when reading the book for the first time.
Movie Review: Review of Film Persuasion Summary: 5 StarsLoved Amanda Root! Both she and Ciaran Hinds (her suitor) grow on you. The supporting cast makes it an excellent film. I really recommend it if you like Jane Austen romances. It was well done.
