Movie Review: Too dull and lacking emotional depth
Summary: 3 Stars
While I appreciate that this version was more true to the novel than the 2007 Masterpiece Theatre version, I found this version to be too slow-moving and that the main charaters failed to invoke the emotional depth of those in the 2007 version. I just recently watched the 2007 version of Persuasion with Sally Hawkins and Rupert Penry-Jones,and I didn't much care for it at all,due to terrible miscasting,and total lack of chemistry between the two leads.
Last night I watched this version and I much prefer this version and highly recommend it. The only reason that I give it four stars instead of five,is because I don't really care for books or films that are full of 'angst',LOL!
Movie Review: BBC's Persuation

The BBC/A&E production of Jane Austin's Persuation is a masterpiece (perhaps the reason it was shown in America by Masterpiece Theater) that should not be overlooked or left unseen. Persuation is one of Austin's best works, surpassed only by her Pride and Prejudice (her coup de grace of any idea that only men could write great literature). Unlike Pride and Prejudice, Persuation starts a little slow, which may cause viewers to think about turning it off -- Don't! The ending is well worth the early wait, which establishes the setting and circumstances that the latter romantic comedy, the play of misunderstanding and morals depends. Stay the course -- it will reward you well enough that you will return and watch Austin's work again and again. Movie Review: Loved It!
