VHS Movie Reviews of Paul's Journeys - According to ScriptureMovie Review: For history and travel buffs, Christians, students of Bible Summary: 5 StarsThis video brings the history and actual locales to life from the Acts of St. Paul--the birth of the Bible. The cinematography is brilliant and the references to scripture and biblical events seem to be accurate (I am not a Bible scholar). E.g., the riot of the Ephesians--whose hot little businesses selling icons of the goddess Diana were threatened by the monotheistic Paul--is handled very nicely indeed; there are many such points of interest along Paul's missionary journeys. Much of the filming is in Turkey, a treasure-trove of history and biblical archeology. This film brings the land and ancient times vividly to life, connecting the ancient world to modern times with a light and charming touch that avoids piousness or heavy religiosity-- thus should appeal to history and travel buffs as well as Christians and students of the Bible.
Summary of Paul's Journeys - According to ScripturePaul's Journeys took over eleven years of field research and filming. We tried to find every paving stone that St. Paul would have stepped upon and this would lead us through his routes of travel. We even found a Roman highway by following our hunch. The ancient travelers had to have moved up a particular valley to get to a particular city and we entered the valley and picked up branches from fallen trees and there it was....a perfectly paved highway. We did not release PAUL'S JOURNEYS until we had found all the sites that Paul would have known. We are very gratified to see the enormous positive response from clergy and the public at large. But, most interesting is the appreciation shown us by archaeologists for our display of the ancient city sites and the details we point out regarding city planning and city life of the 1st Century A.D.
