I was so happy when I watched this film for the first time because it was able to create both an entertaining story and one with a deeper meaning directed at society. It is much more scandalous than the Broadway version of this musical, but I think that makes its impact bigger. There are also very few musicals that exist that cater to both men and women. So, for those women out there who want to have a musical that you can watch with your boyfriend without him complaining that it is too girlie, then this a good choice. Enjoy! This is an excellent movie for simply enjoying, if you like musicals. But, more then that, it is outstanding for teaching what life was like for our 49ers during the gold rush. Students as young as 12 enjoyed this experience.Movie Review: Classic Oldie

Nothing better than this musical oldie. You'll swoon seeing and listening to the young Clint Eastwood and laugh at the antics of Lee Marvin (although he does have his serious side). And the beautiful Jean Seberg brings the soft side of the harshness of the gold rush to the screen. The music from Paint Your Wagon is classic and you'll be singing along as you watch the movie. If you've never seen the great Paint Your Wagon, hold on to your hat for a wonderful love story with lots of light moments that will keep you laughing.
