VHS Movie Reviews of Once Upon a Time in AmericaMovie Review: American Mobsters Summary: 5 StarsThis is a very good movie and one of those movies you can't miss anything or you will be lost at the end. Also on this DVD the very beginning had scenes I never saw before which made the ending make more sense.
Movie Review: A rambunctious allstar cast / Classic mob movie Summary: 5 StarsI purchased this classic for a friend who never had the privalge to view in my opion one of the top 3 mob movies ever. For me it's Godfater part -2 , Goodfellas, Once Upon A Time in America. I would highly recommend this movie,The cast just keeps pounding out the preformance that we come to know and love.Robert De niro,James woods,Joe Pesci, Burt Young just to name a few principal characters. So dim the lights get the popcorn and enjoy.
Movie Review: This would've been a dissapointment anyway you slice it Summary: 1 StarsI watched the long version of this movie, and I was thouroughly bored with the whole thing as they did try to do another "Godfather" here, but it doesn't wash. It shows a bunch of kids that immigrated over from Israel, and landed on Ellis Island only to end up in the Lower East Side of NTC. They all seem like they're normal kids, and like all normal kids they mess with each other, and grow up to become friends, and then enemies, and finally only opprtunities to achieve what they want in life. Well isn't that what the American dream is all about kids? I will say that the intercourse scene from behind I don't know the significance of the scene other than it showed the person only looking out for himself. I mean he had to do it from behind her as he couldn't even face her. I found "The Godfather" movies one and two way more respectable than this. If it won any oscars at all it was because the MPAA "TOOK A BRIBE!!!!".
Movie Review: Thankfully, Leone didn't direct "The Godfather!" Summary: 1 StarsI had hoped that the theater-released version was the eviscerated masterpiece others have claimed, and that this Special Edition would be a delight to view. It proved intermittently watchable on fast-forward, but the direction and script were generally appalling even when I couldn't hear the dialogue. The third cardinal sin is overacting, and, thankfully, there were few incidences of that. There were outstanding performances by secondary charactors; by Tuesday Weld, in particular. De Niro and Woods were solid in their standard personae. There was both good business sense and artistic judgement behind the various delays in the theater release of this mess. The hardest knock on this film is its unrelenting mean-spiritedness. I'm neither Jewish nor Catholic, but this comes across as a stereotypical portrayal of Jews by Catholics. I will not keep this film in my collection, and will not pass it on to someone else. I am SO glad Coppola directed "The Godfather."
Movie Review: This will haunt me forever. Summary: 5 StarsI'm not a kid, I just wanted to get this off my chest quickly. This movie is absolutely brilliant. The title of this review says it all, for I am sure that the violent, heartwarming and sublime images that Sergio Leone
captured in this film will never leave my conscience. I will remember noodles memories vividly as if they were my own, and the sound of the Pan-flute will forever be etched in my eardrums. Kudos to De niro, Woods, Leone and everyone who made this film one of the most outstanding ever.
