Movie Review: Great

I like this version just because it's the original I remember when I was little. The voice acting is very cute and sounds more like what it's supposed to, as opposed to the Disney version where they changed the voice actors to Dakota Fanning and her little sister. No offense, but Dakota Fanning is a teenager and Satsuke is supposed to be around 8-10 years, and Mei around 3-4, so why would they pick voice actors that were so much older than the actual characters? It's different if the voice actors SOUND like they are young, but the Disney version they don't really sound the age they are supposed to. Movie Review: A Beautiful Imaginative Story

The whole family fell in love with this one. Lush, painterly animation, nicely understated score, and very real, appealing characters support a magical, emotionally resonant story. Nothing "princess-y" here to put off the boys, and nothing too scary to freak out the little ones--but a real depth of feeling, some dream-like suspense, and super-cute Totoro himself. What a winner. This is a great movie for all ages, but especially good for kids under five. We love all the Miyazaki movies and we are not put off the the DVD quaility. I bought this copy for my dare care it is perfect Miyazaki starter. The father's voice is played by Tim Daly of "Private Practice" and "Wings".
