This film is a triumph in all proportions. The direction is second to none and couple that with the disturbing subject matter, outstanding performances, and interesting on screen concepts, (color changing from scene to scene) you have one brilliant film. The clothing was done by Jean Paul Gaultier and that also adds to the movie's over-all success. Greenaway's attention to detail is felt through every moment and the result is amazing. Do yourself a favor and seek this one out. The viewer from New York has no idea what he/she is talking about, they should stick too the latest Will Smith offering.Movie Review: The most interesting movie I have ever seen!

I don't know what attracted me to this movie... It is not the type I usually watch, but it got my attention and would not let go. Some people will think the movie is sick, but give it a chance - It all works out in the end. I try to recemmond this movie to everybody. Some people understand it, some don't. Greenaway's two most consistently disturbing films, this one and THE DRAUGHTSMAN'S CONTRACT, are brillant rethinkings of Jacobean revenge tragedy with their emphesis on food, sex, excrement and a weird, black comedy that permeates even the darkest, most horrfic moments. The sense that this is a movie to be expereinced physically is, to my mind, its most astonishing quality.The performances by Michael Gambon and Helen Miren are amazing in their sheer fearlessness. On video it must be seen in the letter box format to give the viewer anything like the power of the original in the theater.Movie Review: A profound look at the depravity in today's society!
