Movie Review: Slam Bang Action
Summary: 4 Stars
Republic Pictures had a good reputation for movie serials and Spy Smasher is one of the reasons why. The pacing is fast and furious and the production quality is as good as it gets. The stunts are effective and there's plenty of outdoor shots. If you like movie serials,I recommend Spy Smasher as one of the best for its well executed non-stop action.Movie Review: PRETTY MUCH [NOT WORTH IT]

Spy Smasher & King of the Rocket Men are NOT included in this box. What else you get besides what is shown is a Documentary about serials (my favorite part due to it informing me of other serials) and Radar Men From The Moon. Plus you are only given a few seleected episodes to watch. Like the beginning, a bit more, then the end. Saddly the best part is the documentary. I recommend purchasing these seperately, but it isn't all that bad a deal if you just want a quick get to know in regards to serials.Movie Review: Best Serial will bring out the excited little kid in you...

Okay, CITIZEN KANE this is not, but among serials, THE SPY SMASHER deserves its five3-star rating. It is arguably the very best of the serial adventures. Kane Richmond is very good in the role of twin brothers, and the Second World War backdrop is effective. I first saw this cut and re-patched as THE SPY SMASHER RETURNS on TV in New York when I was a kid. I loved it then, but this version is much better. It keeps the original serial format, and its production values (again, for a serial) are quite good. The Mask is a bit of an inconsistent villain, but Nazis make great bad guys. The fight scenes are terrific (not only for serials, but for all films of this era). Wonderful choreography and very exciting. Simply said "I didn't get what was in the ad." My Cliffhanger didn't come with "Spy Smashers" ( had a documentary instead)Also I didn't see anywhere in the ad that said "selected chapters' Every serial has several missing chapters.(which of course takes away most of the fun of having these old serials)Movie Review: No Spy Smasher or King of Rocket Men in this set

Spy Smasher and King of the Rocket Men are not in this set!!! Don't bother with this if those are the ones you want. Get them separatly elsewhere if you can ever find them. As well you only get a couple selected chapters each serial and that [smells.] You do get Radar Men From The Moon, but I have it already and will be selling my box set soon enough here. I bought this for Spy Smasher and King of the Rocket Men and I'm pretty upset that they are not here. You get a total of four serials edited and a documentary. It's worth it if you are wanting to just check these out on a less serious level. Enjoy....
