I caught my 5 week old son staring at the saints game on tv and was thinking "no way he is actually watching this", so we popped in this baby beethoven dvd someone bought us before he was born to see if he really would watch it this early. He loves it! We watched this morning and I dont think he turned his head away from the tv once. I even turned him around and he turned his head with the tv. We were surprised how my baby son's attention was held by this on the tv screen at 2 months and continue to be surprised at how much he still totally loves it at 11 months. He also now laughs in recognition when the same musical pieces are being played by a normal orchestra over the radio, which I think is just amazing for a baby less than a year old when we made no effort to push him unnaturally. I was leery of a dvd being like an "electronic babysitter", but really, Mommy having a few moments to make herself a cup of tea just sets us up for better interactions all morning, and it is actually true that Baby is getting some real musical enthusiasm and development from it! I heard people rave about these dvd's. I bought 25 of them and my son didnt give them 2 seconds of his time. I wasnt impressed with the quality. I guess whether your child likes them or not will depend on if they are a tv watcher or not. Movie Review: My baby loves it!

My 9 month old daughter started watching Baby Beethoven at about 6 weeks and loved it immediately. This is still, hands down, her favorite Baby Einstein DVD. She smiles just seeing the Disney intro and caterpillar. When she is truly fussy the DVD is the only thing that calms her down. I highly recommend it for younger babies.
